ZEEKR maintenance and reduction-gear oil: build the right service plan

Separate electric and plug-in hybrid maintenance, verify regional intervals and request a documented service scope for the actual drivetrain.

Identify the powertrain before discussing oil

In our China configuration reference, 001, 7X, 009, X, 007, 007GT and MIX are battery-electric models, while 8X and 9X are plug-in hybrids. A battery-electric car has no combustion-engine oil service, but it still has lubrication and inspection needs. A plug-in hybrid also needs its engine-related schedule even when most journeys are electric. Never identify the service plan from the battery size alone.

  • Record VIN, build date, original market, drivetrain and current odometer privately.
  • Collect dated previous service invoices, not only a dashboard reminder or seller’s statement.

Use time and distance together

Obtain the maintenance document applicable to your market and vehicle. As a regional example, ZEEKR Malaysia’s published schedule for its listed 7X, X and 009 variants uses service milestones of 20,000 km or one year, whichever comes first. This is not a universal interval for all China-export cars, 8X or 9X, nor does it mean every fluid is replaced at every visit.

  • Ask the service provider to identify the exact schedule and document revision used.
  • Calculate the next visit from both elapsed time and mileage; low mileage does not cancel time-based requirements.

Reduction-gear oil depends on the drive layout

The Malaysian schedule distinguishes rear reducer oil on its RWD 7X from front and rear reducer oil on its AWD 7X, and front oil on its FWD 009 from front and rear on AWD 009. These are scoped regional examples. Do not order fluid by model name alone or assume that every oil on the internet is suitable for an electric drive unit.

  • Request the correct fluid specification, quantity, axle and replacement interval for the VIN.
  • Do not infer an oil-change interval from the service-visit headings or mix engine oil with drive-unit lubricant requirements.

Turn the service visit into an itemised record

Ask for a checklist distinguishing inspection, adjustment and replacement. Relevant systems may include tyres, brakes, steering and suspension, cooling circuits, cabin filtration, auxiliary battery and charging equipment, according to the car’s schedule. Regenerative braking does not eliminate friction-brake inspection. Discuss reduced cabin airflow or unusual smells before a routine visit rather than automatically treating them as an overdue engine service.

  • Record date, mileage, operation, part numbers, fluid specification and workshop details.
  • Ask which items were inspected and found satisfactory instead of accepting an undetailed “full service” invoice.

Adapt the plan to use and previous history

Tell the technician about dust, salt, extreme temperatures, repeated short trips, long storage and any impacts or water exposure. These circumstances may require additional checks under the applicable schedule; do not invent a shortened interval without evidence. For an imported car with uncertain history, request an initial assessment and written baseline plan instead of replacing every fluid indiscriminately.

  • Bring fault messages and previous repair records to avoid repeating unnecessary work.
  • For a hybrid, include engine operation and fuel-system concerns when describing how the vehicle is used.

Service support and warranty need separate confirmation

A published regional maintenance plan does not establish that a parallel-imported car has warranty coverage there. Obtain written confirmation of what the local workshop can support: diagnostics, parts, software and documentation. We are an independent exporter, not the manufacturer. High-voltage repairs and sealed drive-unit work require qualified personnel; this guide is a planning checklist, not a fluid-changing or battery-repair procedure.

  • Ask for a quotation separating labour, parts and optional recommendations before authorising work.
  • Keep a complete service file so the next workshop can identify what was actually done.
